Sudden changes in your dog’s balance or movement
A seizure, collapse, sudden weakness or difficulty walking needs veterinary attention. A symptom alone cannot tell you which neurological or other condition is responsible.
During an episode
Keep your dog away from stairs and nearby hazards. During a seizure, do not restrain them or put your hands in their mouth. Time the event and call a veterinary clinic for instructions.
Get urgent help
Seek emergency care for a prolonged or repeated seizure, trouble breathing, inability to stand, severe pain or a suspected injury or poisoning.
Bring useful information
Note when the change began, current medications and possible exposures. A short video can help if you can record safely. Do not delay care to capture one or give human medicines.
